Action against poverty

We support a number of different projects both locally and in other parts of the world.  When we met at Abbey on 6 February 2005 a number of larger organisations were mentioned by Mike Fegredo and Karen Paterson and here are more details:

Trade Justice Movement

The Trade Justice movement campaigns for change to the unjust rules and institutions governing international trade, so that trade is made to work for all.

Micah Challenge

The Micah Challenge is a global Christian campaign that: challenges us to deepen our engagement with the poor; and challenges leaders to achieve the Millennium Development Goals, and so halve absolute global poverty by 2015!

The Jubilee Debt Campaign is demanding an end to the scandal of poor countries paying money to the rich world. It is calling for 100% cancellation of unpayable poor country debts.

Relieving suffering and offering hope is at the heart of Tearfund's vision.  It is also involved in relief and development, and tackling the underlying causes of poverty.

MAKE POVERTY HISTORY was set up to bring together action during 2005.  The website is still there, but points you to other sites for ongoing action.

At New Life Baptist, we believe that the church is nothing less than the hope of the world
